For at least 74 years, India has maintained one of the fastest population growth rates in the world. The 90s were the fastest period of population growth in the country, with nearly 20 million people added each year.
Accordingly, from a country with a population of more than 300 million people in 1950, by early 2024, India had become most populous country in the world with more than 1,4 billion people.

Oman currently leads the world in population growth at 4,41%. This small country located in the West Asia region. Most of Oman's population growth comes from immigration. This country had a population growth rate of up to 8,60% in 2022.
